In light of the new County Health Orders, please be aware of the following changes, starting Monday, December 7, 2020:
- All family law hearings will be held by Zoom for now. This includes hearings and trials set in Dept. 11 with Judge Haynes or Dept. 19 with Judge Mills. Note: The only matters in the County to occur in person will be some hearings in the criminal departments.
2. The lobby of the Spinetta Building (and all courthouses) will be closed.
3. All filings may be submitted to the red dropbox. The dropbox will be emptied each hour during the court’s business hours. Please include a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage for the return of your filings.
4. Requests for Domestic Violence restraining orders may be made electronically or in hard copy to the drop box. For the link to file a Request for DVRO, please see the Emergency Local Rules Implemented 5/26/20, Page 4, available through this link: Amended Third Emergency Local Rules-Family Law
The Emergency Local Rules remain listed on the County Superior Court Website.
5. Ex Parte requests will be received by dropbox and processed.
6. If you have submitted pleadings for a Request for a DVRO or an Ex Parte request, the court will call you to pick up the processed pleadings. The court will let you know when you are called what time the pleadings may be picked up. The two windows to pick up processed pleadings will be 12:00 – 1:00 pm and 3:00 – 4:00 pm.
7. Please do not call/email the departments (specifically Dept. 29) to inquire about judicial assignments. The clerk cannot advise you at this time. The exact assignments remain in flux.
As soon as we have more information, we will share it with you. These changes are temporary, we will get through these times together. Until then, please stay safe and be well!
